glue Art
I used this lesson: Glue Art on Canvas with Watercolors. Our fourth grade class collected three leaves (a small, medium, and large) from outside. Then, they traced the three leaves on watercolor paper and went over the lines with Elmer's glue. After the glue dried, the students painted the leaves and background. This was a great way to head into the season of Fall.
Glue and Soft Pastels
This art lesson was inspired by one that came from The Kitchen Table Classroom. The lesson was called Leaf Drawing- How to Draw a Leaf with Glue and Chalk. Third grade began the leaf project by going on a short hike to collect five to six leaves. Afterwards, the students traced the outers edges of the leaves on black construction paper using pencils. Then, they went over the pencil lines with a thin line of Elmer's glue. Next, we discussed the warm versus cool colors on the color wheel. Each student colored the inside of their leaves using warm soft pastel colors and the background using cool colors. I sprayed each piece with a workable fixative to keep the chalk from rubbing off.
