Gabriel Kline, from Red Moon Rising Studio in Asheville, came to teach the class how to throw pots on the wheel. He sat opposite the students and guided them through the steps of centering, bringing the clay up, and forming a finished pot.
Nick Friedman, from Duckpond Pottery, came to demonstrate on Middle School Arts Day. He threw the head on the wheel and used hand building skills to make the final product. The students were amazed by the tranformation of a wheel thrown pot into a man's head smoking a cigar.
