Monotypes
The girls painted abstract designs on glass plates using acrylic inks and texturizing tools. Then, they used rolling pins to carefully print the image from the glass plates to paper.
Step 3

The students enjoyed the process and the artwork was shown at the end-of-year Talents Celebration. The Process: 1. The student sketched an image on a 6'' circle. 2. The students painted the background of their sketched image onto the inside of their styrofoam plate using acrylic paints. 3. The students then laid a muslin fabric square over the painted image on the plate and pressed it into the fabric using paper towel to blot it. 4. The students then removed the muslin fabric to reveal the first layer of their monotype. 5. The students painted and printed the consecutive layers of their artwork using the methods above. 6. The completed monotypes had a layered effect and were attached to macrame rings for a "framed" look. |
