Paper Molds
This is a good project for older students because it takes time and there are several steps in the process.
Materials Used:
Process:
1) Use Saran wrap to line the inside of the bowl. Let a little wrap hang out of the edges.
2) Use a 3 to 1 part Elmer's glue/water mixture (more glue than water) to adhere the small bits of paper inside the bowl mold.
3) Layer the paper using the glue mixture until walls of the bowl are thick enough to hold the shape. This may take several days.
4) Let the bowl dry completely.
5) Gently pull Saran wrap out of the bowl.
6) Carefully peel the wrap away from the mold.
7) Paint bowl with acrylic paint.
8) Spray the bowl with Shellac or some type of sealant.
