Grid Drawing
Our fifth grade students practiced drawing on a grid using animal faces. They used sets of artist pencils, kneaded erasers, and blending sticks to create shading and depth. I used this lesson plan from Grid Drawing- Inspired by Chuck Close to teach the process. Being able to draw using a grid system has many applications, and I wanted my fifth grade art students to be able to do this before they went to middle school.
