Teaching Philosophy
The word “art” is derived from an ancient Indo-European root meaning “to fit together.” I believe teaching art is just that because it helps students process information and fit images, processes, and thoughts together.
Art allows students to discover new things about themselves and develop skills. Art fosters critical thinking in our rapidly changing times. It creates opportunities for making connections, synthesizing information, and fosters the collaboration of ideas or concepts.
My goal is to expose students to various mediums, teach them to evaluate artwork, and find enjoyment in the process. I do this by sharing my own creativity and providing a supportive environment for my students.
